Meet Claudia
Claudia has been a Consultant Dermatologist since 2008. She currently offers private consultations at the Nuffield Health Brighton. Her NHS dermatology consultant position is at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS trust. Her main interests include diagnosis and management of skin lesions, skin surgery and skin cancer treatment. She is experienced in the management of autoimmune skin conditions and she offers Botox® and hyaluronic acid fillers for facial rejuvenation.
Claudia completed her medical training at Imperial College at St Mary’s Hospital in London. She was awarded several prizes during her medical training and achieved an intercalated BSc achieving a First Class award. She completed her MB BS with Honours from the University of London in 1999.
She completed her junior training in the London area and moved to Brighton for her dermatology training in 2004. During her training she attended weekly autoimmune clinics at St John’s Institute of Dermatology with Professor Martin Black and Dr Richard Groves. She completed research investigating the link between psoriasis and bullous pemphigoid. She was appointed as a consultant at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2008. As a consultant she has developed her surgical skills further, attending the internationally renowned, Hugh Greenways Superficial Anatomy and Cutaneous Surgery course at the SCRIPPS research Institute, University of California San Diego in 2013. The surgical management of benign and cancerous skin lesions is a large part of Claudia’s workload.
Claudia was the lead clinician for the dermatology service in Brighton and mid Sussex from 2016 to 2018 and she has been the deputy lead for the skin cancer multidisciplinary team in Sussex. She has developed a research infrastructure within dermatology at Brighton and also developed a research network across Surrey and Sussex. She is the dermatology lead for the Clinical Research Network for Kent Surrey and Sussex, and has contributed to numerous publications.
Claudia lives in Brighton with her husband and three children. She enjoys walking and photographing the beautiful Sussex countryside. She plays the piano.

Claudia’s friendly demeanour will ensure that you are put at ease during your consultation. She will assess your condition and will then work through all treatment options clearly with you. Her goal is to develop a management plan with you, taking into account all of your holistic needs.
Areas of Expertise
Dr. DeGiovanni treats all adult dermatological conditions. Her main areas of clinical interest are skin lesions including mole check and removal, skin tags, sun damage management, skin cancer, skin surgery. She is also experienced at managing skin rashes including acne, eczema, psoriasis and autoimmune skin conditions (blistering conditions like Bullous Pemphigoid and Lupus).
She attended the internationally renowned, Hugh Greenways Superficial Anatomy and Cutaneous Surgery course at the SCRIPPS research Institute, University of California San Diego in 2013 to develop her surgical skills further and now regularly performs skin cancer surgery including flap and graft repairs.
Claudia has been using Botox® injections to treat hyperhidrosis for several years and has attended the Expert Cosmetic Training Course in 2016. She currently isn’t offering Botox injections or hyaluronic acid fillers for facial rejuvenation.
