Supporting awareness of skin changes during pregnancy

I recently contributed to and featured in a public education post shared by the British Skin Foundation, focusing on the skin changes that commonly occur during pregnancy and when they may require specialist input.

Pregnancy brings significant hormonal, immune, and vascular changes, and it is very common for women to notice new or changing skin symptoms. These can include pigmentation changes such as melasma, stretch marks, altered moles, flare-ups of pre-existing skin conditions, itching, rashes, and changes in hair and nails.

My contribution centred on:

While most pregnancy-related skin changes are harmless and temporary, some conditions do benefit from assessment, reassurance, or treatment โ€” and itโ€™s important that women feel confident seeking advice.

Iโ€™m pleased to support organisations like the British Skin Foundation that work to improve public understanding of skin health at key life stages, including pregnancy, and help ensure patients receive clear, trustworthy information.
